Notification of Early Morning Aerosol (ULV) Applications
Please
be advised that the Norfolk County Mosquito Control Project will begin the 2008
early morning ULV aerosol applications on or about May 27, 2008, weather permitting. This program
will be a continuation of the procedure, which has been used in past years.For more information click here.

Notice of Aerial Laval Control Application
In accordance with 333 CMR 13.05 (2) (a&b), please consider this as notification of the pending spring (and summer if needed) aerial applications targeting mosquito larvae in the larger wetlands of the county.
The Norfolk County Mosquito Control Project will be conducting helicopter applications of the biorational larvicide Bti (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis) to
control mosquito larvae. Go to the Projects website for spring
wetland locations. The summer wetland locations will be posted if
these applications are warranted. These applications will be
conducted over specific large wetlands in the Towns of: Avon/Bellingham/Braintree/Canton/Dedham/
Dover/Foxboro/Franklin/Holbrook/Medfield/Medway /
Millis/Milton
Needham/Norfolk/Norwood/Plainville/ Quincy
/Randolph/Sharon/
Stoughton/Walpole/ Westwood/Weymouth/Wrentham area.
These applications will be
conducted between April 1, 2008, and September 15, 2008.
The trade name of
the granular formulations ofBti to be used is VectoBac G (BPA Reg.

Emergency Preparedness Program
The Board of Health has assumed a large responsibility regarding the Emergency Preparedness Program and works with the Department of Public Health, CDC, and many other State and Federal Departments, along with 34 other towns in the region known as 4A. www.region4a.org, please also show family communication plan, also attach 72 hr kit list for any kind of disasters. Dover Board of Health has also set up a Medical Reserve Corp for the town please put in volunteer application sheet the MRC can also be linked to Region 4a for info.(I have all these sheets)

Responsibilities
The Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Public Health give the local Board of Health the authority to enforce all state regulations, as they deem necessary, to ensure the best interest of the public health.
Environmental Health
- System design, review and installation inspections as they pertain to Title 5, the State Environmental Code
- Site plan design and installation inspections for drainage purposes
- Review of water quality tests for private and public wells
Food and Housing Safety
- Permitting and inspecting food service establishments, both restaurants and temporary facilities
- Enforcement of the housing code
- Permitting and inspecting tanning salons and massage therapy facilities
Public Health
- Maintain wellness programs for residents through the Walpole Visiting Nurse Association
- Immunizations for local Emergency Response Personnel
- Provide local providers with free vaccines from the department of Public Health.
- Provide residents with annual flu clinics
- Senior citizens health clinics
- Annual rabies clinics
Tobacco Control
- Provides information for local residents on the dangers of smoking
- Provides support services for residents trying to stop smoking
Mosquito Control
- Provides the Norfolk County Mosquito Control with funding to control the mosquito population
